Vocabulary

1. cast (v, trans.) /kɑːst/ to choose actor to play the different parts in a film/ movie, play, etc: chọn diễn viên => cast sb (as sb); cast – cast – cast

      e.g: He has cast her as an ambitious lawyer in his latest movie.

2. character (n, c) /ˈkarəktə/ a person or an animal in a book, play or film/ movie: nhân vật

      e.g: a major/ minor character in the book

3. director (n, c) /dɪˈrɛktə/ or /dʌɪˈrɛktə/ a person in charge of a film/ movie or play who tells the actors or staff what to do: đạo diễn
4. scene (n, c) /siːn/ a part of a film/ movie, play or book in which the action happens in one place or is one of particular type: cảnh (phim)

      e.g: The movie opens with a love/ sex scene.

5. plot (n, c or unc) /plɒt/ the series of events that form the story of a novel, play, film/ movie, etc.: sườn, cốt (truyện, phim, …)

      e.g: The book is well organized in terms of plot.

6. set (v, trans., usually passive) /sɛt/ to place the action of a play, novel or film/ movie in a particular place, time, etc.: đặt bối cảnh (ở …, vào …) => set sth + adv./ prep.

      e.g: The novel is set in London in the 1960s.

7. dialogue (n, c or unc) /ˈdʌɪəlɒɡ/ conversations in a book, play or movie/ film: cuộc đối thoại

      e.g: The novel has long descriptions and not much dialogue.

8. dub (v, trans.) /dʌb / to replace the original speech in a film/ movie or television program with words in another language: lồng tiếng => dub sth (into sth)

      e.g: an American movie dubbed into Italian.

9. come out (v, intr.) to be published.

      e.g: The film came out in 1998.

10. star (n, c) /stɑː/ the person who has the main part, or one of the main part, in a film/ movie, play, etc.: diễn viên chính
